It’s rather difficult to implement a efficient work request and work order flow system on a CMMS. This is because every organization operates in different ways and what works for one, will not work for another.
The Holy grail of maintenance work flow on a CMMS is an implementation that is so flexible and simple that can be made functional for each organization with a press of a button. Most times though a certain level of compromise needs to be reached to make the work flow efficient.
In cloudruge, we implement work request and work order flow control in the following way:
We believe the general implementation above will work for the vast majority of companies. The strength of this diagram and how we implement it on cloudruge, lies in the fact that the same person can accumulate several roles. For example, the “unit manager” may also be a “technician” and can also be the “maintenance manager”. This way, if the company is small and indeed the same people accumulate several responsibilities, the relevant permissions are assigned to the same user. On a larger and more complex company, roles are assigned to different users.
